Honoring Port’s public servants

The Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 honored outstanding public servants during its Thursday, June 8, meeting. Presenting the award for Teacher of the Year from both the Legion and its Auxiliary to Christy Herbst of St. John XXIII School were (top photo, from left) Legion Post Adjunct Wendy Maechtle, Auxiliary President Diane Burkhalter and Legion Commander John Jacque.
