Honoring a longtime firefighter

Port Washington Deputy Fire Chief Jim Riley (left) was honored on June 5 by Mayor Marty Becker and the Common Council with a proclamation denoting his 40 years with the fire department. “It’s something when you work for a place for 40 years. It’s another when you volunteer,” Becker said in honoring Riley. “I think that’s phenomenal.” During his tenure, Riley has been a firefighter, emergency medical technician, lieutenant, captain and deputy fire chief and has served as director of the ambulance service, done work on the communications equipment, information technology and record management program and helped with the department’s upgrade to a paramedic service.
