Honoring holiday light shows

Prizes were presented last week to the winner of the fifth annual Christmas lights contest sponsored by Lake Financial Group in Port Washington. People could nominate their own homes or the decorated houses of friends, and their addresses were listed on a map provided by Lake Financial. Those viewing the homes could then vote for their favorites through Dec. 28. Present for the ceremony were (from left) Lake Financial co-owner Brian Barber; Gerry Vanden Boom, whose house on Green Bay Road won the Clark Griswold Award selected by Port Main Street Inc.; Port Mayor Ted Neitzke, who selected Shirli Flack’s house on Grand Avenue for Best of Show; Betty Vande Boom; Robert, Kay and Tyler Flanders, who won the People’s Choice Award for their home on Highway B; and Lauralyn Voigt of Lake Financial Group.
