Habitat to take part in recycling drive

Habitat for Humanity Ozaukee is participating in a national recycling effort that will run through July 31.

Individuals, organizations and companies are encouraged to collect aluminum cans and scrap metal for Habitat for Humanity Ozaukee. The metal may be dropped off in the designated area behind the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center at 2360 Dakota Dr., Grafton.

Companies can also recycle scrap aluminum as they usually do but note the weight and, after determining the value of the recycled metal, send a check for that amount to Habitat for Humanity Ozaukee, 2360 Dakota Dr, Grafton WI 53024. “Aluminum Drive” should be written in the memo line along with the number of pounds recycled.

Participating Habitat affiliates will receive $2,500 from Novelis to go toward their next building project.

The affiliate that recycles the most will receive an additional $6,000, the second-place recycler $4,000 and the third-place recyclers $2,000.

In addition, affiliates that rank fourth through 10th and have collected at least 1,000 pounds of aluminum will receive an extra $500.

Habitat for Humanity Ozaukee is working to raise $175,000 to start its next home build in Port Washington with the goal of starting the project by fall of 2024.
