Grafton star earns all-state Div. 2 honors

Alex Huibregtse has been a focal point of opposing defenses for a couple of years, but that hasn’t stopped him from finding the basket and putting the ball through it.

The Grafton senior averaged 24.2 points per game this season and eclipsed 30 points seven times.

That level of play earned Huibregtse a spot on the Division 2 All-State Team.

His high was 39 points — more than half of his team’s output — in a 74-64 win at Hartford on Dec. 17. He went 9-for-11 from the field, 5-for-8 on three-pointers and 6-for-8 on free throws

He led the team in assists with 4.5 per game and was second in rebounds 7.2 per game.

Huibregtse eclipsed 1,000 career points in an 89-83 overtime win over Nicolet on Jan. 10. He scored 37 on the night.

Huibregtse has committed to play for Wright State, which competes in Division 1 in college basketball.
