Grafton Scout helps keep young bicyclists safe

More than 60 children learned how to ride their bicycles safely, had their bikes checked by professionals and their helmets fit correctly and received helmets if needed thanks to 14-year-old Eagle Scout candidate Jacob Butler, who organized Bike Safety Day on Saturday, June 10, at John Long Middle School in Grafton. Pete Chandler and Butler, a member of Troop 840 of Grafton, gave a group of youngsters some tips, then Butler watched as children biked down the safety course (above). (Below) Dan Kerkman  was among the volunteers who helped with the event, as was Joyce Cullen of Aurora Health Care (top left), who made sure a boy’s helmet fit correctly. Aurora also donated helmets that were given to participants. Helping with the event were coaches and members of Ozaukee County mountain biking teams, Cedar Creek Outdoors, Scouts and Scout leaders and the Grafton Police Department.
