Grafton man has child in car during OWI

A 27-year-old Grafton man was arrested on July 14 by Saukville police for first offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a child in the car.

According to the police report:

Police were northbound on South Main Street near Rebel Park at about 8:35 p.m. when they saw a vehicle exit the park, leaving behind it a large cloud of dust, indicating that the driver had been doing donuts in the parking lot.  

The car sped up, reaching a top speed of 52 mph in a 25-mph zone, when police pulled it over.

In the car was a 27 year-old Grafton woman and a child. The man admitted to drinking a large beer and agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed. A preliminary breath test showed a reading of 0.117, above the legal limit of 0.08.  The man was arrested and taken to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton for a blood draw.  Charges for operating while intoxicated with a passenger under the age of 16 are being requested. He was also cited for speeding.

Saukville Police also reported:

Police arrested a 35-year-old Hartford man the evening of July 13 on West Dekora Street and South Railroad Street after he was pulled over shortly after 8 p.m. when records indicated his license was suspended. The car he was driving also did not have an ignition interlock device installed on the vehicle, which was required due to an OWI conviction.  The man was arrested and taken to the Ozaukee County jail.  Charges for operating while revoked-OWI related and failure to install ignition interlock device are being requested.

A 20-year-old Cudahy woman was charged with cocaine possession after a traffic stop at 4:50 a.m. on July 17 on East Green Bay Avenue and North Riverside Drive.

Police pulled her over after they clocked her traveling at 47 mph in a 25-mph zone. 

The woman admitted to not having a valid driver’s license and police could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  The woman said a friend had smoked marijuana in the car earlier.  A search of the vehicle produced a green leaf-like substance in the driver’s side cup compartment of the door as well as the end of a blunt, which also contained a green leafy substance in it.  Both later tested positive for THC.  

The woman was arrested and taken to the Ozaukee County jail, where deputies found a dollar bill in her wallet that contained a white powdery residue, which tested positive for cocaine. Charges for operating without a valid driver’s license-second offense, possession of THC and possession of cocaine are being requested.
