Grafton to honor legendary coach

This Friday will be more than a football game for Grafton High School.

Legendary football coach Kip Cramer, who led the Hawks to state titles in 1981   and 1982 and to runner-up finishes in 1977 and 1984, will be honored.

A monument will be dedicated at halftime at an area past the south end zone and be named the Kip Cramer Pavilion.

In addition, as many members of the 1981 team who can make it will be honored for the 40th anniversary of their championship.

Cramer is one of four charter inductees into the Grafton Athletic Hall of Fame. A small ceremony limited by the pandemic was held in April.

Cramer, who still lives in Grafton, went 154-79 in 24 seasons. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1999.

The high school dance team will also perform at halftime.
