Grafton boys win track and field regional

The Grafton High School boys’ track and field team took first, second and fourth places four times in winning the eight-tream Division 2 regional meet at Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Monday.

The Black Hawks scored 110 points. University School of Milwauke had 101, and Port Washington had 99.

The top four places advance to the sectional, where those top four go to state.

Dylan Mursch won the discus with a throw of 135 feet, 7 inches, and shot put with a 44-7.5.

Jordan Abts won the 100 in 11.36 seconds and Zander Lichosik won the 3,200-meter run in 10:03.66.

Abts was second in long jump with a 19-11, and Caleb Buback was second to his teammate in shot put with 42-7.5.

The 400 relay team of Joey Giorgi, Clayton Kleckner, Mason Hunt-Oklowski and Abts was second in 44.93, and the 3,200 relay team of Sam Peters, Jake Neperud, Nathan Baker and Victor Geiser was second in 8:37.72.

Jeremiah Bickle was third in the high jump with a 5-7.

Fourths were: Kleckner, 100, 11.74; Baker, 3,200, 10:09.25; the 800 relay team of Buback, Dominic Voiland, Erik Navarrete and Hunt-Olkowski, 1:37.87; and the 1,600 relay team of Navarrete, Andrew Rose, Voiland and Neperud, 3:42.

The Pirates won two events and took two seconds, three thirds and four fourths.

Jake Lippe won the triple jump with a 40-7.75, and Mason Deheck won pole vault with an 8-6.

Taylor Stewart was second in pole vault with an 8-0, and Will Handziak was second in the triple jump with a 39-8.75.

Thirds were: Lippe, long jump, 19-10.75; Deron Spicer, 100, 11.67; and the 3,200 relay team of Isaac Bensen, Brett Grisar, Zach Gephart and Mason Raasch, 8:44.1.

Fourths were: Austin Rinke, pole vault, 7-6; Gephart, 1,600, 4:48.1; Stopczynski, 300 hurdles, 43.51; and Spicer, 200, 23.85.

The Grafton girls took second with 129 points. KML won with 133. Port was fourth with 87.

The Hawks won six events. Taylor Weiss won the shot put with a 35-5 and discus with a 91-6. Grace Gasser won the high jump with a 4-10.

The 3,200 relay team of Julia and Maddy Wille, Elise Lueck and Morgan Ruona won in 10:15.43. The 1,600 relay team of Delaney Reindl, Maddy Wille, Gasser and Ruona won in 4:14.65. The 800 relay team of Reindl, Camille Mirek, Kirsten Van Ryzin and Ava Wilmanns won in 1:50.36.

The Hawks got five thirds: Wilmanns, long jump, 15-9, and 100, 13.91; Mirek, high jump, 4-9; Ava Matthai, pole vault, 6-6; and the 400 relay team of Sophia Scolman, Wilmanns; Van Ryzin and Reindle, 53.83.

They had four fourths: Mirek, 200, 29.34; Kate Senczyszyn, 400, 1:04.32; Julia Wille, 3,200, 12:00.69; and Anna Eifert, 800, 2:40.41.For Port, Noel Konitzer won pole vault with a 9-0.
The Pirates got four seconds: Madi Doll, high jump, 4-9; Bethany Stacey, 3,200, 11:39.3; Giannina Castillo-Panche, pole vault, 7-0; and the 3,200 relay team of Emma Goodman, Katie Erlandson, Clare Woods and Grace Schumacher, 10:40.16.

Port got five fourths: Haven Kanneberg long jump, 15-4.25; Kelly Ball, 100 hurdles, 18.08; Jane Kautz, 300 hurdles, 52.67; Erin Grisar, pole vault, 5-9; and the 1,600 relay team of Schumacher, Goodman, Abby Fritsch and Summer Normille in 4:29.09.

Cedar Grove-Belgium’s teams both took last place. The boys scored 20 points and the girls scored 35.

Bryce Ketterhagen was second in the 800 in 2:08.92, and Logan Ketterhagen was third in 2:10.28.

Karen Ibarra was second in the 800 in 2:32.81.

The 3,200 relay team of Lyndsay Sass, Grace Voskuil, Greta Beernink and Ibarra was third in 10:49.06.

A.J. Schaefer was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 17.42.

The Pirates, Hawks and Rockets compete in the sectional Thursday at Wisconsin Lutheran.

Big schools dominate conference meet

The larger schools mostly dominated the 10-team North Shore Conference meet on May 14 in West Bend.

Slinger won the boys’ meet with 134.5 points. Port scored 37.5 for eight and Grafton had 36 for ninth.

Lippe was third in triple jump at 40-05 and fourth in long jump at 20-0. Spicer was fourth in the 100 in 11.55.

The Hawks’ boys had four fourths: Lichosik, 3,200, 9:56.42; Mursch, shot put, 45-1.25; 3,200 relay team of Geiser, Baker, Peters and Lichosik, 8:37.08; and the 400 relay team of Giorgi, Kleckner, Buback and Abts, 45.7.

West Bend West won the girls’ meet with 138.333 points. Grafton had 25.5 for ninth and Port 13 for last.

The Hawks’ 1,600 relay team of Van Ryzin, Maddy Wille, Gasser and Senczyszyn was fourth in 4:14.91.

For the Pirates, Bethany Stacey was fourth in the 1,600 in 5:27.71.
