In good faith and good health
It was more than a month later than usual, but the Ozaukee Christian Men’s Softball League finally got underway in June.
Commissioner Eric Litke said the league waited for guidance from local health officials and until churches were holding in-person services before starting to play. The league is down three teams from last year since some churches didn’t have enough players comfortable enough to play.
“It’s great to have this island of fun and normalcy in a world that is still far from normal, but of course everything looks a little different this year,” Litke said.
Elbow bumps often replace high-fives, and post-game handshakes have been reduced to waves.
But they’re thrilled to be playing.
“The team was very excited when we heard there was a chance to play this year. We all look forward to this time of fellowship and playing softball together. It’s also great to see players from other churches that we’ve gotten to know over the years,” Grafton’s Grace Lutheran Church manager John Bernd said.
