Giving the gift of books to those behind bars

Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Port Washington recently held a book drive and, along with St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, donated stacks of paperbacks to the Ozaukee County Jail Literacy Program for inmates in the county jail. Posing with the books were (from left) Heather Haseley, president of the Jail Literacy Program and a Wisconsin public defender who works in Ozaukee County; Sheriff Christy Knowles, an advisory member of the organization; Pastor Jerry Cho of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church; and Grace Eernisse, a member of the Jail Literacy Program Board of Directors.    Photo by Sam Arendt
