Girls win sectional

The equations were 13=1 and 11=7 for Ozaukee High School at the Division 3 track and field sectional last Thursday in Princeton.
The lady Warriors’ 13 team members scored 58 points to finish first of 32 teams. Rio and Dodgeland tied for second with 53 each.
Of the 13 Warriors, 11 qualified for the state meet in seven events.
Delanie McFadden won the 100-meter dash in 12.51 seconds and the 200 in 25.48.
The 800 relay team of Ashlee Mueller, McFadden, Brianna Bustamante and Becca Schauer won in a school record 1:47.76.
The 1,600 relay team of Mueller, Bustamante, Amy Hoffmann and Schauer took second in a school record 4:14.47.
The 3,200 relay team of Mueller, Greta Klas, Hoffmann and Kelley Large was second in 10:17.57.
Large was third in the 3,200 in 11:58.91. Brynn Meyer was third in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 6.5 inches.
The top four finishers advance to state.
“I was proud of how they came out determined to qualify and take another step forward toward their goals this season. Our girls have worked hard all year and it showed at sectionals,” coach Andrew Pfeuffer said.
“I’m excited to watch all our girls compete next week in La Crosse with the hopes of some of them landing on the podium.”
Boys qualify two for state meet
Ozaukee’s boys scored 19 points to take 15th place of 35 teams at the sectional. Cambridge won with 71.
Matt Baldwin qualified for state in the 800 by taking fourth in 2:03.55.
Trent Simpson took fifth in the high jump by clearing 6-0 and qualified since his total was among the top eight performances in all the Division 3 sectionals.
Sam Schubert had a near miss in the 400 by finishing fifth in 53.73, just .06 seconds from fourth.
The 3,200 relay team of Baldwin, Calvin McKee, Hayden Rice and Schubert was fifth by nearly six seconds in 8:41.06.
