Gary Barribeau

Gary L. “Tarp” Barribeau, age 86, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at Tidewell Hospice Facility in Bradenton, Fla.

Gary was born on Sept. 28, 1934, in Hermansville, Mich., the son of the late Harvey and Irene (Ayotte) Barribeau.

Gary grew up in Hermansville, Mich., and shortly after graduating from high school, he married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Stockero on Feb. 13, 1954, at St. Mary’s Church in Hermansville.  

They moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where Gary took a job with St. Regis Paper Co.

In 1964, Gary moved his family to Port Washington, Wis., where they purchased the D&G Super Club, where they created so many memories for family and friends.

Over the years, Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and watching his Green Bay Packers, along with spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by wife of 66 years Dorothy Barribeau; daughter Cheryl (Troy) Clary of Bradenton, Fla.; son Gary Jr. (Jackie) Barribeau of Three Lakes, Wis.; daughter Karen (Greg) Wainscott of Bradenton, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brothers Ronald, Harland, Gordon and Joe Barribeau.

Gary was proceeded in death by both his parents, Harvey and Irene Barribeau, and his brother Lloyd Barribeau.

The family will greet friends on Saturday Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ortman Funeral Home at 618 Norway St., Norway, MI 49870.

A graveyard service will immediately follow at the Meyer Township Cemetery in Hermansville, after which there will be a celebration of life at the Knight Owl in Norway, Mich.
