Frebeka 5 to be held in September

The Frebeka 5 Run and Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, in Waubedonia Park.

The five-mile run, two-mile walk and one-mile walk starts at 8:30 a.m. Pre-registration is $25 and race-day registration is $30. Pets are allowed on the two and one-mile walks.

A kids’ one-mile fun run and walk starts at 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is $10 and race-day registration is $15.

Trophies will be awarded to overall winners in the male and female runs, and medals will be given for the top three places in each age run’s category. For the five and two-mile runs, categories are age 13 and younger, 14 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 80 to 79 and 80 and older.

For the kids’ run, categories are 3 and younger, 4 to 5, 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 11 and 12 to 13.

Each runner receives a T-shirt, saftety whistle, bottled water, a banana and an ice cream cup.

The run was started in 1989 by the Fredonia Lions as a fundraiser and has brought in more than $68,000 in 30 years.
