Fishing derby is canceled

The Great Lakes Sport Fishermen’s Ozaukee Chapter has canceled its annual fishing derby that was scheduled for June 26 to 28 in Port Washington.

The club’s board of directors decided to cancel the derby due to concerns over the coronavirus.

The event is one of the club’s two annual fundraisers.

Fish, including seeforellen brown trout, chinook salmon, rainbow trout and coho salmon, have already been released into Lake Michigan in anticipation of the event.

The derby is expected to be held next year.
