Dudley ‘Sam’ Ramaker

Dudley “Sam” Don Ramaker, 92, of Cedar Grove, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.
Dudley was born to Lester and Olive (Grotenhuis) Ramaker on May 18, 1929, in Cedar Grove.
He graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1947.
Dudley went on to Milwaukee School of Engineering, where he graduated with his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1958.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War until 1953.
Dudley was united in marriage to Marjorie Teumer on July 14, 1956, at Hope Reformed Church in Sheboygan.
Dudley was employed at Bolens Division of FMC Corp. as a mechanical engineer from 1958 to 1982. During that time, he became director of research and development in the outdoor power equipment division.
He became one of the six owners in an employee buyout in 1982, when he was appointed vice president of engineering. Bolens Division of FMC Corp. was bought out by Garden Way Inc. in 1986, and he retired in 1990.
He was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove, where he served as elder, deacon and trustee. Dudley was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cedar Grove for many years.
Dudley enjoyed woodworking in his retirement years and built beautiful furniture for his family. He also enjoyed history, books, old movies and morning coffee with his friends. Dudley loved walking every day, stopping to pet dogs along the way. He enjoyed traveling around the country and wintering in Florida with his wife. Dudley treasured his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dudley is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie; daughters Pamela (Todd) Ramaker Soerens of Naperville, Ill., and Paula (Jeff) Risseeuw of Cedar Grove; grandchildren Alison (Nathan) Zimmermann, Mara (Zachary) Risseeuw Swanson, Danielle (Bradley) Dorner and Jacob (Erika) Soerens; and great-grandchildren Elliana, Kinsley and Josie Zimmermann and two more on the way.
He is further survived by his brother-in-law Kenneth Teumer, sisters-in-law Joan Teumer and Mary Lou Teumer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roland (Miriam) Ramaker, brothers-in-law Harvey Teumer and Roger Teumer and sister-in-law Katie Teumer.
A funeral service will be held at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 11 a.m. If unable to attend, all are welcome to join via livestream by visiting wenig.live/DudleyRamaker.
Burial with full military honors will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may greet the family at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to First Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
