A 31-year-old Saukville woman fell asleep at the wheel of a car she was driving and drove off the road in downtown Saukville on Wednesday, Feb. 26, causing an early morning traffic jam.

It was the second traffic incident in less than a week at the same location. In both cases, drug use is believed to have been involved.

According to a Saukville police report, the woman was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix east at the eastern point of the downtown triangle when she veered across the westbound lanes and over the curb.

When police arrived, Daggett was “possibly unconscious,” according to the report.

She was not injured, and no other vehicles were involved.

Drug use is believed to be a contributing factor, the report stated.

Daggett was cited for second offense operating while intoxicated.

Another crash occurred at the same location at about 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, when an eastbound 1991 Buick LeSabre car driven by a 61-year-old West Bend woman drifted into the westbound lanes and struck a 2015 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck.

The woman and her 58-year-old male passenger were injured. Both were transported to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

A 36-year-old West Bend woman driving the Tacoma was treated at the scene and released.

Drug use is suspected in that incident, another report stated.

The 61-year-old woman was cited for failing to stop at a red light.

Results of blood tests are pending.
