Dorothy Boehm

Dorothy Boehm of Grafton entered eternal life on May 30, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her throughout her life.

  Born on Jan. 3, 1945, in Milwaukee, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of Chester and Julianne (nee Cernicky) Schmidt.

She attended Pius High School, graduating with the Class of 1963, and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee before earning her associate degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Technology.

Dorothy dedicated her entire professional life to caring for others as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee.

  On Sept. 18, 1971, Dorothy was united in marriage with the love of her life, George Boehm. Together they built a beautiful life in Milwaukee and moved to Grafton in 1987, raising their family and creating a home filled with love, laughter and treasured memories.

  A woman of deep and abiding faith, Dorothy was an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Grafton. Additionally, she spent many years deeply committed to Simply the Word Bible study at Christ King Parish in Wauwatosa. Her faith was the foundation of her life and was reflected in the kindness and generosity she shared with others.

  Dorothy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed shopping and could happily spend hours browsing her favorite stores, craft fairs and rummage sales in search of the perfect find. She valued the turning of the seasons and always had the perfect holiday decor to mark the time of the year. She treasured time spent with George, whether attending Broadway shows or taking family trips to Door County.

Above all, Dorothy’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren at sporting events, school activities, concerts and special milestones. Her presence in the stands, her words of encouragement and her unwavering love meant the world to those she cherished.

  She is survived by her husband George, her children David (Jennifer) Boehm, Lisa (Jonathan) Metz, Katie (Scott) Dembiec and Christine Boehm and her dearly beloved grandchildren Kayla, Alex, Adam, Maria, Jack, Nate and Erin. She is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Joyce Massee, Barbara Kenny and Mary Paulé Kalz. Imagining them all reunited again (sometimes lovingly referred to as “Judy and Chet and their Female Quartet”) brings a great sense of peace to all who knew and loved them.

  The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Aurora Zilber Family Hospice for the compassionate care, comfort and kindness they provided to Dorothy and her family.

  A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at St. Joseph Parish Catholic Church in Grafton. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the service. Prior to the service, a walk-through by the Wisconsin Nurses Honor Guard will take place.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Parish in Grafton.
