Doris Noster

Doris M. Noster loved music and reading, and she devoted her life to those passions.

“She played guitar and piano,” her daughter Nancy Crass said. “She liked all types of music — except maybe rap.”

Her mother passed her love of music to her children, her daughter added.

“We all have some degree of musical ability,” she said.

Mrs. Noster also loved reading, and she used it in her volunteer work. She ran the library at Friedens Church in Port Washington, where she was also involved in bible study groups, and she taught inmates in the Ozaukee County Jail to read as a volunteer with the Jail Literacy program.

She also volunteered at the Random Lake Library, her daughter said.

She married Delton Ziehr in Waubeka on Oct. 16, 1947.

On June 15, 1985, she married Alex Noster.

The couple lived in Belgium, where Mr. Noster ran Noster Foods, until moving to Random Lake.

Mrs. Noster was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She enjoyed “any game,” her daughter said. “She loved word games and card games, playing sheepshead and canasta.”

Mrs. Noster was always smiling, her daughter added, and was known for being a positive, encouraging person.

While she enjoyed her professional and volunteer roles, Mrs. Noster’s favorite role was that of grandmother and great-grandmother, her daughter added.

Mrs. Noster is survived by her children Nancy (Carl) Crass of McDonough, Ga., Clifford (Carolyn) Ziehr of Creswell, Ore., and Jenifer (Gary) Paszkiewicz of Delafield; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
