Doris Noster

Doris M. Noster loved music and reading, and she devoted her life to those passions.
“She played guitar and piano,” her daughter Nancy Crass said. “She liked all types of music — except maybe rap.”
Her mother passed her love of music to her children, her daughter added.
“We all have some degree of musical ability,” she said.
Mrs. Noster also loved reading, and she used it in her volunteer work. She ran the library at Friedens Church in Port Washington, where she was also involved in bible study groups, and she taught inmates in the Ozaukee County Jail to read as a volunteer with the Jail Literacy program.
She also volunteered at the Random Lake Library, her daughter said.
Mrs. Noster, who most recently lived in Waukesha, died of congestive heart failure Wednesday, May 2, at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc. She was 90.
Mrs. Noster was born on Feb. 16, 1928, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Frederick and Eleanore Riemer Mensing.
She married Delton Ziehr in Waubeka on Oct. 16, 1947.
The couple lived in Fredonia for a time, then moved to Milwaukee.
On June 15, 1985, she married Alex Noster.
The couple lived in Belgium, where Mr. Noster ran Noster Foods, until moving to Random Lake.
Mrs. Noster was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She enjoyed “any game,” her daughter said. “She loved word games and card games, playing sheepshead and canasta.”
Mrs. Noster was always smiling, her daughter added, and was known for being a positive, encouraging person.
While she enjoyed her professional and volunteer roles, Mrs. Noster’s favorite role was that of grandmother and great-grandmother, her daughter added.
Mrs. Noster is survived by her children Nancy (Carl) Crass of McDonough, Ga., Clifford (Carolyn) Ziehr of Creswell, Ore., and Jenifer (Gary) Paszkiewicz of Delafield; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by her stepchildren Jeanne Maciejewski of Cedar Grove and Jim (Annie) Noster of Belgium; sister Beverly Hames of Salem, Ore.; sisters-in-law Helen Ziehr of West Bend, Bernice Noster of Cedarburg and Janet Sommerfeldt of Sheboygan; and brother-in-law Norbert Klein of West Bend.
Mrs.Noster was preceded in death by her former husband Delton on Oct. 19, 1990, and her husband Alex on Feb. 13, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her step-son-in-law Mike Maciejewski.
A funeral service for Mrs. Noster was held Sunday, May 6, at Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington. The Rev. Brandon Lemons officiated.
Burial was in Waubeka Union Cemetery,
