Donna Pearson

Donna Pearson, 89, a former resident of Port Washington, died Monday, Feb. 5, from complications of a stroke in Pompano Beach, Fla. 

Mrs. Pearson was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Jan. 17, 1929.

According to her family, she was a bank teller who enjoyed making oil paintings, playing bridge, skiing and being a seamstress. She raised two children with her first husband Art Folkringa.

In 1983, she married Stuart Pearson and moved to Port Washington, where she enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan, swimming with friends, quilting and going to church. She was also a member of the Port Washington Woman’s Club.

Mr. Pearson died in 2004.

Mrs. Pearson suffered a stroke on Thanksgiving in 2006 and relocated to Pompano Beach, Fla., to be near her family.

Mrs. Pearson is survived by her children Mark of Kalamazoo, Mich., Sue (Doug Lugthart) Folkringa of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and granddaughter Jessica Folkringa.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Virginia Broersma, husbands and twin sons. 

Memorial service plans are pending.

Kraeer Funeral Home in Pompano Beach, Fla., is handling the arrangements.
