Donald M. Didier

Mr. Don Didier of Saukville passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at Lincoln Village in Port Washington, where he had been residing for the last two years.  He was 85 years old.

Donald was born in Deer Creek, Minn., on Dec. 6, 1937, the son of Victor and Suzanne (nee Aultman) Didier.

The family moved to Saukville when Don was a child. He attended St. Mary’s/Immaculate Conception School in Saukville before going to Port Washington High School, where he played first base for the school baseball team. Don graduated with the Class of 1955.

Mr. Didier worked at Tecumseh Products in Grafton, starting on the assembly line and retiring as a foreman in 1999 after 45 years on the job.

On Sept. 20, 1969, Donald was united in marriage with Rene Miller at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

They settled in Saukville and were blessed with one son. Don and Rene were faithful members of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, for many years.

Don loved sports! He founded the Saukville Rebels football team in 1961 and helped start the Wisconsin All American League. Mr. Didier coached many area youths in the finer art of the game of football for decades.

He also played in the Land O’ Lakes baseball league for 16 years and coached basketball at Immaculate Conception from 1962 to 1981.

Don enjoyed fishing and had many fond memories of fishing in the river near his home in Saukville.

Survivors include his wife Rene of Port Washington, their son Nathan of Random Lake and siblings Geraldette “Teddy” Didier of Saukville, Jerome “Jerry” (JoAnn) Didier of Cedarburg, James “Jim” (Sue) Didier of Port Washington, Frank (Eunice) Didier of Arkdale, Wis., Victoria “Vicky” (Myron) Graff of Port Washington, Susan “Sue” Hespe of Waukesha and Gene “Peter” (Judy) Didier of Grafton.

He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Paul Winnemueller of Saukville, other family members and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Suzanne and sisters Geraldine “Dean” Didier, Jane (the late Bud) Boehm, and Linda Winnemueller.

Private family services were held.

Don will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saukville.
