Detour for $1.4M Hwy. 33 project to extend into July
A $1.4 million state road project has drivers on a section of Highway 33 from Newburg to the Town of Saukville taking a detour route.
The state is replacing a retaining wall and pavement, curb and the guardrail on a stretch of road from highways Y to I.
Work is expected to last into July.
The detour starts at Highway Y and ends at Highway I, routing traffic north or south at both intersections. Access to businesses and residences are allowed, but through traffic is not, according to the state Department of Public Transportation.
Zenith Tech of Waukesha is the general contractor. The total cost of the project is $1.42 million. State funds are paying for it.
