Dennis Aamodt

Mr. Dennis Aamodt of Saukville passed away at Vitas Ruth Hospice in West Allis on Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, 2025. He was 76 years old.

Dennis was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 27, 1949, the son of Alfred and Marion (nee Franzen) Aamodt.  

He attended local schools and graduated from Custer High School with the Class of 1968.  

Following school, Dennis enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam, where he was awarded a Purple Heart medal. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Rifle Expert Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and Good Conduct Medal. 

On May 13, 1972, Dennis was united in marriage with Beth Spiegel at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The couple moved to Saukville in 1975, where they raised their family.

Dennis was a member of the carpenters union. He entered the industry at age 23 and was employed as a floor coverer, working for Lippert Tile before he retired in 2007.

Hunting and fishing were some of his favorite pastimes, as well as shooting sports. Dennis was a member of Saukville Gun Club, leaving a legacy of friendship, camaraderie and wonderful memories. He served in whatever capacity was needed and was the range rifle chairman for many years. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Beth, and their sons Alan of Kuna, Ind., and David of West Bend. He is further survived by grandchildren Emily (DJ) Barkow, Madelyn Aamodt, Carly Aamodt and James Aamodt, great-granddaughter Charlotte Barkow, sister Virginia (the late Jack) Ashenhurst, brother Richard (Tracy) Aamodt, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.  

Dennis was preceded in death by his son Andrew, parents Alfred and Marion and sister Debby (the late Rodney) Roberts.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.  The Rev. Daniel Paavola will preside. Dennis will be interred with military honors at Union Cemetery in Saukville immediately following the service. The family will greet visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 11 a.m. until the service begin at 1 p.m.

 If desired, memorials in Dennis’s name are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
