Decorated boats light up the night, draw a crowd to Port’s lakefront

Scores of spectators flocked to Port Washington’s Coal Dock and Rotary parks just after nightfall Sunday to watch the Venetian Night boat parade, one of the stars of which was the sailboat Karma, owned by Brian Kendzor, which was decorated to look like a giant freshwater shark (above). A powerboat decorated to look like a sailboat and captained by Jack Schanen and his father Bill led the parade (top right). Bill and Elizabeth Prince decorated their boat, By Design, with a lighted version of the Port lighthouse (bottom photo). Sea Scouts from Sheboygan (above right), who were towed through the harbor, joined the fun (left). The party started before the parade on The Trollop, where (from left in photo at right), owners Janet and Randy Baguhn and crew MaryJo O’Brien and Donny Schmidt stayed true to the Oktoberfest theme in both dress and drink. Next door in the marina, Shirley Dekker added a parrot to the palm tree on Bravo, the sailboat she and her husband Tom own (right).
