Deborah Jean Clement

Deborah Jean Clement of Germantown, Wis., passed into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at the age of 72.

Deborah was born in 1952 in Baytown, Texas, to James Stipe and Bonnie Losack.

She married the love of her life, Gary Clement, in 1981. They moved from Texas to California and eventually settled in Wisconsin.

In 1993, Gary and Deborah hosted a foreign exchange student from Ukraine. They instantly fell in love with Vera and she became like a daughter to them and has been part of their family ever since.

Deborah loved traveling, trying new foods and quilting. She regularly attended quilt retreats and quilt shows, and made many great friends through quilting.

Above all, Deborah loved the Lord. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Cedarburg, and even if she was unable to attend in person, she would listen to recordings of the service and study Scriptures. She served the Lord with her whole heart in a ministry she believed in, GriefShare. Through her work with the GriefShare ministry, she was able to bless many people during their times of grief and bring them closer to the Lord.

Deborah was preceded in death by her husband Gary Clement and her parents.

She is survived by stepdaughter Monica (Tom) Drews, adopted daughter Vera (Lee) Jacobs, brother Michael Stipe and sister Sharon (David) Grizzle, as well as two nieces and a nephew.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home at 10280 N. Port Washington Rd., Mequon, WI 53092 (262-241-8085). Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. with a funeral service starting at 1 p.m. led by Pastor Mark Brooks.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heritage Baptist Church in Deborah’s honor.

The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate staff at Frontida Assisted Living of Germantown for the care they provided over the past year and a half.
