College hoops accolades have Port and Saukville connections

Two Port Washington High School alumni and a Saukville resident have received postseason recognition from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Matt Kirmse, a fourth-year junior from Saukville at Milwaukee School of Engineering, was named the NACC’s layer of the Year. He averaged 18.9 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. He led the league with 75 three-pointers and shot 42.6% behind the arc.

He was also named to the Google Cloud Acadamic All-American third team and to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division 3 All-District second team. He holds a 3.88 grade-point average and is majoring in actuarial science.

His coach, Brian Miller of Saukville, was named NACC Coach of the Year. MSOE won the conference and set a school record for wins with 21.

Miller has been MSOE’s coach since 2004 and has had 12 winning seasons.

Port High alumnus Pat McDonald, a senior majoring in exercise science at Lakeland University, made the NACC second team. He averaged 15.9 points per game, 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists, and shot 57.2% from the field and 45.1% on three-pointers.
