Christine L. Janke
Christine L. Janke of Fredonia passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at the age of 75.
She was born in Port Washington, the beloved daughter of Paul and Carolyn (Weyker) Schmit.
Christine married her high school sweetheart Roger Janke (1949-2018) on Oct. 22, 1977, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Throughout their 41 years of marriage, they raised their two beautiful children in Fredonia.
Together, Roger and Christine enjoyed traveling, golfing and visiting local picnics, parades and festivals.
Christine was a devoted member of the Catholic church.
She retired from Jadair Inc. after more than 40 years of dedicated service.
More recently, Christine enjoyed socializing and going out to dinner with her friend Don and visiting with her brothers. She belonged to the Fredonia Garden Club and took pride in her holiday decorations. Christine was an avid reader and frequented local libraries.
She enjoyed road trips to Green Bay to visit her daughter’s family. Above all, time spent with family and grandchildren was cherished. Christine never missed a milestone event, whether it be a dance recital, choir concert, art show, sporting event or preschool graduations. She loved having an active role in her grandkids’ lives.
Christine’s memory will remain in the hearts of her children Ryan (Rose) Janke and Brittney (Pat) Bray; grandchildren Finn, Cole, Ellie, Remi, Ivy and Reid; brothers Joseph Schmit, John Schmit and Stephen Schmit; special friend Donald Depies; and brother-in-law Richard (Karen) Janke. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roger; her parents Paul and Carolyn; parents-in-law Edward and June Janke; and sister-in-law Kris Schmit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Divine Savior Catholic Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Hwy. B, Belgium, WI 53004. The family will receive visitors at the church from 3:30 to 5:20 p.m.
Christine will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Fredonia.
