Chinooks return pair of players

The Lakeshore Chinooks are bringing back two former players for the 2021 season. Connor Kimple of Louisiana Lafayette University and Nathan Aide of the University of Illinois are set to return.

This will be Kimple’s third season with the team. The junior outfielder missed 2019 due to injury and last year when the season was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a pandemic-shortened 2020 in college, Kimple, an outfielder, hit .283 and led the team in hits with 15. In 17 games so far this season, he has hit four home runs and has seven RBI.

Aide, a Franklin native, was selected by league scouts to participate in the Major League Dreams Showcase, which displays the league’s best talent.

He played for the Kenosha Kingfish in 2018 and for the Chinooks in 2019.

In a shortened 2020 season at Illinois, he hit .276 and had the team’s third-highest slugging percentage.

Aide is hitting .300 in four games this season.

The Chinooks are slated to start on June 3.
