Celebrating reading, Dr. Seuss in Port

First Congregational Church in Port Washington teemed with beloved characters from children’s literature who served some understandably odd looking food during the Dr. Seuss Breakfast Celebration Saturday. Clockwise from above left photo: Attending the event, which was held in honor of the March 2 birthday of Dr. Seuss, the famous author of children’s books and inspiration for National Read Across America Day, were Lilly and Harper Dimmer, who showed off the Truffula trees they made while Thing 2, portrayed by Claire Rychtik, looked on. Emma and Theodore Riemer had their photo taken while posing as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from “The Cat in the Hat.” Connor Laflin appeared to be telling Cat in the Hat Taylor Ulleki (left) and Sam I Am Sophie Genereaux that he does not like green eggs and ham.
