Catherine V. Tucker

Catherine V. Tucker (nee Vander Vennet) of Port Washington, Wis., entered her eternal home surrounded by her husband and daughters on Oct. 6, 2023.

Cathy was born on Sept. 30, 1952, in Moline, Ill., to Walter and Irene (nee Fitzgibbon) Vander Vennet.

She attended Alleman High School and later attended St. Norbert Collge in De Pere, Wis.

Cathy had an incredible love of the outdoors, which led her to meet the love of her life on a camping trip in 1979: park ranger John Tucker. They were married on on Nov. 26, 1983.

Cathy worked as a paralegal through most of her career.

Cathy is survived by her husband John and three daughters, Amy (Dale) Bruss, Jennifer (Jim) McLeod and Elizabeth Tucker. Cathy is further survived by eight grandchildren, Jacob, Ashley, Caitlyn, Kaylee, Cody, Kyleah, Ava and Andrew, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lawrence (Irene) of Peoria and loving nephew Andrew Tallon of Poughkeepsie.

Cathy had a strong spirit; she never gave up fighting despite any diagnoses or expectations given. Cathy had deep love for her family and was everyone’s best cheerleader, always telling them how proud she was.  She could light up any room with her quick wit and sense of humor. Cathy believed deeply in peace and encouraged others to always love everyone. She was also a very giving person and would have given anybody the shirt off her back whether she knew them or not.

Cathy’s generosity extended beyond her death as she donated her body to science for others to further their medical knowledge.

A memorial service celebrating her life and legacy will be held at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, in Port Washington on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Cathy’s name to Advocates of Ozaukee.
