Carol Schimberg

Ms. Carol Schimberg of Belgium passed away Monday evening, April 10, 2023, at Forest Haven Assisted Living in Fredonia, where she had resided for the last three years. She was 86 years old.

Carol was born on Dec. 15, 1936, the daughter of John and Eleanor Schommer Schimberg.

She grew up and worked on the family farm and attended the Catholic school at Holy Cross.

Carol had a gift with children and helped raise her brothers and sisters. She also babysat for many of her nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed puzzles, playing solitaire, quilting, gardening and canning. Carol enjoyed watching game shows each day. Every year, Carol would help with the family project of making mustripen. She was also the family photographer.

Ms. Schmiberg was a lifelong member of Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, and was a member of the Christian Women group.

She is survived by her brothers Francis (Mary Ann) Schimberg of Fredonia and David (Mary) Schimberg of Belgium, sisters Patricia (Scott) Gabrich of Tomahawk and Mary (Larry) Crass of Fredonia, brother-in-law Donald Weyker of Beaver Dam and sister-in-law Diane Schimberg of Cedar Grove.

She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, sister Theresa Weyker, brothers Roger and Michael Schimberg and infant sister Margaret Schimberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 Cty. Rd. B, Belgium. Father Donald Thimm will officiate.

Carol will be laid to rest beside her family in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the Mass at 11 a.m.

The family would like to thank the staff at Forest Haven for all of the wonderful care they have given Carol during her time with them.
