Carol Peiffer

Carol Peiffer (née Greisch) peacefully passed away on March 30, 2025, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. She was just four hours shy of celebrating her 89th birthday.

Carol was born in Port Washington, Wis., on March 31, 1936, the daughter of Mathias and Florence Moegenburg Greisch.

She attended local schools, graduating from Port Washington High School in 1954.

She married Donald (Fiss) Peiffer on Aug. 4, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington and together they had three children.

Carol remained in Port Washington her entire life, residing for more than 60 years in the same house she and Don built.

Carol devoted her life to her family, taking pride in raising and supporting her children and Don as he worked endless hours in the family business (Peiffer Auto Service).

She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in every sporting event, dance competition and various extracurriculars.

She found joy in giving and was known to search high and low for current toy trends such as Cabbage Patch dolls and Beanie Babies. One didn’t visit Carol’s home without being offered a sweet treat, and her famous candy drawer was always fully stocked.

Carol loved following the Milwaukee Braves. While her husband was in the service, she and lifelong friend, the late Marge Bichler, frequently drove around town listening to the games on local radio. An avid sports fan, Carol cheered on all local teams, especially Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

She and her husband were original members of the Dave Roller Marching Kazoo Band and Fan Club. During her final weeks, March Madness basketball games were her entertainment choice, and she enjoyed some of the Milwaukee Brewer game on her final day.

Carol encouraged positivity with those around her, often telling family when faced with difficult decisions, “Don’t worry about it. It will all work out.” During her hospice care she changed that statement, telling visitors, “It’s been a good, long life.”

Carol is survived by her three children: Vicki (Bill) Fowler of Wausaukee, Don Jr. (Jill) Peiffer of Jackson and Rick (Jan) Peiffer of Port Washington; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sister in-laws, Jennie (the late Jim) Greisch and Lois (the late William) Greisch, brother-in-law Dave (Diane) Peiffer and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, brothers, James, William and Thomas Greisch, sister-in-law Mary Greisch, her parents Matt and Florence Greisch, her in-laws Clarence and Marcia Peiffer, stepbrother-in-law Gerald Wilde and her grandson-in-law Kerry Kemp.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Interfaith Caregivers, who dedicated themselves to weekly rides for medical services.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the church from 2 to 4 p.m.

Carol will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Port Washington.

The family also wishes to thank the thoughtful and caring staff of Davita Kidney Care and Horizon’s Lawlis Family Hospice.

Eernisse Funeral Home of Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
