Carol Ann (Farrey) Gjertson

She was born the beloved daughter of Howard and Claire (Wittnebel) Farrey.
Carol was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Gjertson on May 22, 1965, in Sheboygan, Wis, and together they raised two beautiful daughters.
Carol graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1959, where she served as a class officer. After high school, she attended Alverno College, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Port Washington-Saukville School District until her retirement in July of 2002.
Carol enjoyed spending time at her family’s place on Lake de Neveu, traveling out West and visiting her favorite spots in Door County and Dubuque. Carol loved the annual summer trips “up north” to spend time at Upper Buckatabon Lake with her family. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, gardening and spending time with her lady friends.
Carol was an active member of her community, belonged to the Port Washington’s Woman’s Club and was a faithful member of her church.
Family was always her first priority. She was a very thoughtful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to those who were blessed to know her.
Carol’s memory will be forever cherished by her husband Bob; her children Christine (Thomas) Shanahan of Oconomowoc, Wis., and Lynn (William) Matzke of Sobieski, Wis.; granddaughters Megan and Nicole Shanahan; brother William (Anne) Farrey; sister Mary (Jerry) Brachmann; and her niece Bethany Perry, with whom she enjoyed a close relationship.
She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Claire Farrey and her niece Kathleen “Katie” (Farrey) Defferding.
