Bob Sauer

Mr. Bob Sauer of Fredonia passed away unexpectedly at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton on Monday, May 22, 2023.  He was 78 years old.

  Robert was born in Port Washington on March 16, 1945, the son of Edwin and Rose (nee Lecher) Sauer.

He attended local schools and graduated from Port Washington High School with the Class of 1963.

At the age of 18, he took a position with FMC-Koehring Co., which later became TRAK International. He retired in 2001 as a foreman in the machine shop.

  On June 11, 1966, Robert was united in marriage with Kathleen Steffen at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fredonia. The couple settled in Port Washington and began their family. They later moved into a home they built in Fredonia.

Kathleen preceded Bob in death in 2004.

  Bob was a longtime member of Divine Savior Parish.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed trap shooting. Bob loved going to his property on Little Sturgeon Bay and would often spend the whole summer there. He recently purchased a pontoon boat and was looking forward to relatives coming for visits all summer long. Bob will also be missed by his friends at Goetz Resort.

  Survivors include his children Jeff (Lynn) Sauer and Lora (Tim) Schroeder, both of Belgium, and grandchildren Allison (Caleb) Weiland, Benjamin Schroeder, Abby Sauer, Anna (Josh) Anhalt and Rose Schroeder.

He is further survived by great-granddaughter Cecilia Weiland, canine companion Daisy, other family members and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, infant brother Edwin and sister Joan (the late Patrick) Brophy.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 1, at 6 p.m. at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Road B, Belgium. Father Todd Budde will preside.

He will be laid to rest beside his wife the following day at St. Rose Cemetery, Fredonia.

The family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday, June 1, from 3 until 5:45 p.m.

  Memorials, if desired, are suggested to Divine Savior Catholic School, Fredonia.
