Board sets new recycling rules
The Belgium Village Board this month established new rules for violations at its recycling center.
The ordinance calls for a verbal warning from the village marshal for the first violation.
A second violation would result in a resident’s recycling yard access card being revoked for the rest of the calendar year.
After a third violation, the person’s recycling yard access card would be revoked for good.
Violations include bringing unauthorized materials to the center — as indicated on posted signs — or bringing material generated somewhere other than the address registered on a person’s access card.
The elimination of the old violations and penalties and establishment of the new ones passed, 6-0. Trustee Dan Wolff was absent and excused.
