Bird Day celebration in Port is May 30

A free celebration of World Migratory Bird Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at Upper Lake Park in Port Washington.

The event begins with walks for beginner and experienced birders at 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Staff members from the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory, which is sponsoring the observance, will lead the walks. Those attending are asked to bring binoculars or borrow some from the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory.

A native plant sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Twenty-five species of native plants that can beautify yards and support pollinators and insects that birds need to survive will be for sale.

A show on live raptors will be presented by Pine View Wildlife Rehabilitation at 10:30 a.m.

Other events held throughout the day include activities and displays from the ArtServancy program, Friends of North Point, International Crane Foundation, Lights Out Wisconsin, Maywood Environmental Park, Ozaukee County Parks Department, Save Our Songbirds, Sweet Water, Van der Brohe Arboretum and Wild Ones.
