Big day for Kids2Kids toy drive is Saturday

Kapco’s 20th annual Kids2Kids Toy Drive  will culminate with the Celebration of Giving Day from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Kacmarcik Center for Human Performance in Grafton.

The event will feature musical performances, an outdoor holiday lights display and a tribute to Ozaukee County’s first responders.

There will be light displays and photo opportunities, a letters to Santa craft area, animal petting zoo, toy train display and toy displays.

Ozaukee County first responders will arrive in fire trucks with their lights on and sirens sounding at about 4 p.m.

There will also be a Salvation Army canteen and a make-your-own s’mores area outside.

The musical performances will include the Webster Middle School jazz band from Cedarburg at 3:15 p.m., the Thomas Jefferson Middle School Jaguar Singers from Port Washington at 3:45 p.m., the Grafton High School jazz band at 5 p.m. and the Cedarburg High School jazz band at 5:45 p.m.

Through Dec. 23, people may donate a new, unwrapped toy by dropping it off at Kapco’s headquarters, 1000 Badger Cir. in Grafton,  or 885 Badger Cir., the Kacmarcik Center for Human Performance.

Jim Kacmarcik, chairman and CEO of Kacmarcik Enterprises, launched the Kids2Kids Toy Drive in 2006 as a way to help low-income children as well as make an impact on the children who contributed to the effort. Since it began, the campaign has collected and distributed more than 335,000 toys to families in need.

Volunteers are being sought to help with decorating and sorting toys before the Dec. 13 event, for the drive on Dec. 13 and to help fulfill toy wishes on Dec. 14.
