Belgium finds tenant for its apartment
The apartment the Village of Belgium has been trying to rent out has finally landed a tenant.
The Village Board this month approved allowing Alex Vincent of Saukville to move in at $800 per month rent.
The apartment at 650 Main St. is part of a property the village was gifted in 2024. A company rents out a portion of the building, and now the village has a tenant for the other side after someone moved out months ago.
The village thought it landed a tenant before, but an increase in rental costs deterred them from moving in.
The village chose Vincent over another applicant who had an eviction and did not provide a previous residence.
Vincent got the apartment, “although he listed his current landlord as unknown despite the fact that it’s his mother,” Village Treasurer Vickie Boehnlein said.
The board approved Vincent as its tenant, 6-0. Andrew Bartley recused himself due to his relationship to one of the applicants.
