Belgium American Legion receives flag honoring its founder

The Belgium Melvin Wester American Legion Post 412 was presented a flag last week from Honor and Remember, a national organization whose mission is to recognize veterans killed in conflict. Minnesota Patriot Guard President Doug Bley (second from right), a native of the Belgium area, presented the flag while on a trip home to visit his parents. Accepting the flag were (from left) Post Commander Jerry Keller, Melvin Wester’s brother Harvey and sister-in-law Kay, and Post Vice Commander Al Poull. Melvin Wester was killed in the Korean War. Keller said the flag will hang on a wall at the Legion. For more information on Honor and Remember, visit www.honorandremember.org. Photo by Sam Arendt
