Barbara A. Bichler

Barbara A. Bichler of Dacada passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, at Harbor Campus in Port Washington, Wis.
She was born on March 26, 1942, to (the late) Walter and Mary Freytager.
Barbara graduated from Port Washington High School in 1960.
She was united in marriage to Francis “Fritz” Bichler on Nov. 6, 1976, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Thiensville.
Barbara worked as an office clerk for many years starting at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Milwaukee, then moving to Modern Equipment in Port Washington and finally Crafted Plastics Inc. in Sheboygan, with stops at other locations throughout her professional career.
In her youth, she loved to visit Europe, traveling there several times in the 1970s. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling to see her grandchildren at various Air Force bases throughout the United States.
A lifelong devout Catholic, she was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, attending both St. Mary’s and St. Peter of Alcantara churches in Port Washington, and Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, attending St. Nicholas in Dacada and St. Mary’s in Random Lake.
In her later years, she loved volunteering at the Food Pantry Inc. (formerly known as the Port Washington Food Pantry) and with the Saukville American Legion Auxiliary. Barbara also enjoyed watching her sister and grandsons win more bingo games than her.
She is survived by her son Stephen (Rachel) Bichler, her sister Regina Bares and her five grandchildren, Daniel Gresham, Joe Bichler, Lance Bichler, Ira Bichler and Caleb Gooch, as well as several cousins and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fritz and brother-in-law Bert Bares.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 451 N. Johnson St., Port Washington, WI 53074. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 11 a.m. until the service.
Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Town of Belgium.
Memorials to the Food Pantry Inc., 1777 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, WI 53074, are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
Eernisse Funeral Home of Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
