August activities for adults announced

August activities for adults at the Niederkorn Library have been announced.

The monthly Port Puzzles grab bag will be available while supplies last starting at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4. The bags include  word puzzles, origami and word searches.

The D&D Group meets from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays in the community and quiet rooms. Players and game masters of all experience levels are welcome.

A grief support group meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays in the community room.

The group is facilitated by Colson Leach, bereavement coordinator with Compassus Hospice.

Port Conversations will learn about nonprofit organizations being leaders for activism and hear from Advocates of Ozaukee, United Way of Northern Ozaukee, the Greater Port Washington Kiwanis Club and Portal Inc. at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3.

“An Elder Is A Library” is the theme for a 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, program by Adult Services Librarian Alyssa Strzyzewski and her grandfather Roger Strzyzewski.

They will discuss researching genealogy, ancestry and family history by using library resources.

The Friday Morning Book Talk  group will meet in the quiet room at 9:30 a.m.  Friday, Aug. 11. The group is sponsored by the Port Washington Senior Center but is open to adults of all ages.

Copies of the featured book are available for check out.

An outdoor tai chi class will be held, weather permitting, on the lawn outside the library at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19.

Instructor, Margaret King will lead the class for people of all experience levels.

A Monarch Memory Cafe for people living with memory loss and their family members and caregivers will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in the community room.

The Novel Ideas Book Club will meet in the quiet room at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21.

Copies of the featured book are available for check out.

The BYOBook Club will meet at Inventors Brewpub at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24. Those attending are asked to share the book they are currently reading or have just finished, no matter the genre.

D&D Movie Night will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the community room.

“Honor Among Thieves” is rated PG-13. Popcorn and refreshments will be provided, but food and beverage carry-ins are welcome.
