Audrey J. Jacoby

Mrs. Audrey Jacoby of Dacada passed away at Pine Haven Christian Communities in Sheboygan Falls early Friday morning, Jan. 13, 2023. She was 87 years old.

Audrey was born on June 10, 1935, in Sheboygan, the daughter of William and Emily (nee Jetzer) Plate.

She grew up in the Town of Wilson and attended local schools, graduating from Oostburg High School with the Class of 1953.

  On May 21, 1955, Audrey was united in marriage with Allan DeRuyter. He passed away April 14, 1956.

Audrey married Silvin Jacoby on Sept. 28, 1957, at St. George Catholic Church in Six Corners.

The couple settled in the Town of Holland and raised five children. They farmed in Dacada until they retired in 1989.

Audrey and Silvin were crowned the Duke and Duchess at Luxembourg Fest in 2003.

Silvin preceded Audrey in death in 2010.

  Mrs. Jacoby was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Parish, St. Nicholas Chapel.

She enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting and computer games. Audrey also liked playing card games, especially sheepshead.

  She is survived by four children, Phil (friend Lynda Marquardt) Jacoby and Dale (Deb) Jacoby, both of the Town of Sherman, and Nancy Jacoby and Gary (Tina) Jacoby, both of the Town of Holland; five grandchildren, Michele Hilbelink, Nic (Megan) Jacoby, Nicole (Adam) Martin, Nathan (Joanna) Jacoby and Sophia Jacoby; and five great-grandchildren, Cole Hilbelink, Sawyer and Ansel Martin and Evelyn and Ivy Jacoby.

Audrey is also survived by her brother Cletus (Gayle) Plate, brothers and sisters-in-law Mark (the late Carol) DeRuyter, Ralph (Linda) DeRuyter, Edith (the late Ivan) Beernink, Althea (Allan) VerVelde and Phyllis (the late Norman) Parrish, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Allan DeRuyter and Silvin Jacoby, daughter Beverly Jacoby, sister Germaine (the late Elmer) Zimbal, brother Myron Plate and sisters-in-law Viola, Leona and Salome Jacoby and Karen Plate and brother-in-law Arthur (the late Lorraine) Jacoby.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Nicholas Chapel, Dacada. Father Guy Garath will preside.

The family will receive visitors at Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgium, Wis., on Friday, Jan. 27, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m until services begin at 10 a.m.

Audrey will be laid to rest with her husbands at St. George Catholic Cemetery in Six Corners later that day.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Luxembourg American Cultural Society (LACS) in Audrey’s name.
