Artist reception set for Feb. 11 at Gallery 224 in Port

The oil paintings of ARTservancy artist Tom Smith are featured at Gallery 224 in Port Washington.

The exhibit features plein air paintings done by Smith throughout his residency at Spirit Lake Preserve in Mequon.

He chose different vantage points within the property for each painting, offering a fresh perspective in each and inviting viewers to gain new perspectives as well.

An artist reception to view the paintings and hear about his year in residency will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the gallery, 303 N. Franklin St.

Smith will also hold a plein air demonstration and workshop at the Sauk Creek Nature Preserve in Port Washington from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

The ARTservancy program matches artists with preserves owned or operated by the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust and other conservation organizations. The artists spend the year creating works inspired by the place they’ve been matched with.
