Annual meeting set for April 16

The Town of Belgium will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at Town Hall.

Among the agenda items is a review of the 2018 financial report.

The town’s 2019 tax rate is $1.60 per $1,000 of value, up from $1.45 the previous year. That means the owner of a $250,000 home will pay $400 in local taxes, an increase of $38.50.

The increase is primarily due to the town paying its portion — $43,305 — toward a new grass fire truck for the Belgium Fire Department.

The meeting is open to the public.
