Allen M. Biever

Mr. Al Biever of Port Washington passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 16, 2022, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, where he has resided for the past six years.

Allen and his twin sister Ellen were born in the Town of Fredonia on Dec. 13, 1934, to William and Lena (nee Jungers) Biever.

Al grew up in Holy Cross and attended local schools before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he became a mechanic.

Al traveled the world and, while stationed in Italy, met Liliana Galvanin. The couple were married on May 10, 1959, in Lili’s home city of Verona, Italy. Al and Lili were blessed with two children.

The family moved from base to base until Al retired with the rank of master sergeant. They settled in Port Washington and Al and Lili became very active in the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in Port Washington and later in Sheboygan. Al was involved with the Honor Guard for the posts and helped administer military honors at local veteran funerals for many years.

Mr. Biever was a member of the Port Washington Police Department Reserves and was also a crossing guard for many years.

Al and Lili made regular monthly trips to King, Wis., to visit the veterans at the campus and bring charity donations there.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife Lili of King, Wis.; son Luigi (Kimberly) of San Antonio, Texas, and daughter Giannina “Jenny” (Mike) Vernon of Port Washington; and grandchildren Victor Vernon of Port Washington, Christina Loftus of Sussex, Wis., and Katerina Biever or San Antonio, Texas.

He is further survived by four great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley (the late Richard) Birenbaum of Random Lake, Maryann (Walter) Thill of Fredonia, Adela (the late Richard) Hartman of Port Washington, Luella (the late Steve) Harter of West Bend and Gertrude (the late Gary) Carlton of Duluth, Minn.; sister-in-law Rosanne Biever of Fredonia; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by granddaughter Stella Vernon, twin sister Ellen Biever, sister Eleanore (James) Yak and brother William Biever.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, 505 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, followed by military honors.

Allen will be inurned at St. Mary Cemetery, Port Washington.

The family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the services begin at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to The American Cancer Society are suggested.
