AARP to offer free tax preparation
AARP will offer free tax preparation to low-moderate income taxpayers with a special emphasis on those older than 50 in Ozaukee County.
Sessions will be held on Tuesdays at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 6031 W. Chapel Hill Rd., Mequon, and on Wednesdays at the Ozaukee County Fairground Pavilion, W67 N866 Washington Ave., Cedarburg.
Appointments may be made by calling Port Washington State Bank in Cedarburg at (262) 377-0750.
Returns will be completed in one visit with the taxpayer present.
People who are married but filing separately, as well as those with rental income and farm income are among those who cannot be helped using the free tax preparation.
Those using the service must bring a valid form of identification, proof of their Social Security number and all tax documents, including ACA insurance information, as well as last year’s tax return.
If applying for Homestead Credit, residents must have a signed rent certificate or latest property tax bill, whether paid of not.
