Saying it reflects what Fredonia is and can be to newcomers, the Village Board last week unanimously approved a marketing slogan for the  community: “Find Your Moments Here.”

“I think it really reflects who we’re trying to be and who we are,” Trustee Joshua Haas said. “We’re close to a lot of different things but we’re far enough away.

“Fredonia is a close-knit community and offers a great family environment. You can find your friends and your neighbors and raise your families here. That’s what it really means.

“We’re small, and we’re kind and friendly and comfortable.”

The slogan will appear on the village website, signs, stationery, trucks and other vehicles and social media.

The vote was 6-0. Trustee John Long was absent.

The slogan grew out of the village Economic Development Committee’s branding effort “to explain who and what we are as a community and how we stand out,” said Haas, the committee chairman.

The committee put together a list of five slogans and submitted those to the Village Board. Board trustees selected three from the list.

Besides “Find Your Moments Here,” the other finalists were “Live, Work and Play” and “Life Made Simple.”

The committee ultimately recommended the approved tag line.

Despite its small size, Fredonia’s  location on Highway 57 and nearness to I-43 puts it within easy access to a number of larger economic centers — including Sheboygan, Plymouth, West Bend, Grafton and farther south to Milwaukee —which can help drive its development, village officials said.

Next on the committee’s to-do list, Haas said, is to create a promotional video highlighting Fredonia amenities and services in an effort to attract businesses and new residents.

In the fall, Haas said, the committee will hold a roundtable with the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce “to help us understand what the business community’s needs are and learn how we can partner together to work on those.”
