YOUR PIX: Painted ships on a painted lake

Apologies to Samuel Taylor Coleridge for lifting a variation of his classic description of a becalmed sailing ship—“As idle as a painted ship upon a painted ocean”—from his poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” but Dan Hefle’s photo made it irresistible. The “ships” in his picture taken from Upper Lake Park were sailboats from the Port Washington Yacht Club fleet, maneuvering ever so slowly in zephyrs on glassy water before the start of a race on Saturday.
