YOUR PIX: Owl in a blaze of autumn color

Mary Morano encountered the great horned owl near her Cedar Grove home, perched on a branch amid a gaudy display of gold, orange and vermilion leaves. The yellow-eyed raptor seemed to be giving the photographer a piercing look, perhaps the same one it gives its prey. Considered the most voracious of all raptors, great horned owls hunt for waterfowl, rodents, rabbits and even skunks. In Morano’s stunning portrait, the owl looked both dignified and fearsome.
