YOUR PIX: Hard soil challenges a big plow

Soil packed down by heavy rains earlier in the year and then hardened by a long dry spell made fall plowing a challenge even for the powerful eight-wheel-drive tractor and chisel plow Dan Miller was operating recently in this photo submitted by Mark Huenink of Cedar Grove. Mark reported that Miller, a farm contractor plowing for a local farmer, told him his rig was straining and using a lot of fuel.
